OK, you wanna see some CHARTS/GRAPHS proving you should possibly look for another degree, or another “Type” of school?  Well, you’ve found it here (maybe).

*** Just Keep in Mind ***

1.  The People Putting This Stuff Out

2.  The Methodologies Used

3.  THE INCOMPLETENESS OF SOME OF THESE VISUALS
(for instance, one high-paying “Careers for Bachelor’s” left off Healthcare altogether, while another left off most “Engineering Type” STEM careers)

4.  These are usually NATIONWIDE…thus, if you live in a small-to-mid size city in SC and it says Avg Pay Range of 60-70k for Degree X, don’t fool yourself.

5.  These contain some inaccuracies or inconsistencies (mainly meaning one-offs, where almost all others say something different).  Don’t point at that ONE graph or chart to talk yourself into something.

6.  MOST IMPORTANTLY: Look for the TRENDS!

(While keeping in mind the CURRENT political, social, business, and economic environments).

***If a Career or Degree is mentioned over and over as “Good/Great”, and another reflects “Not-So-Good”----maybe consider looking at some of “THE GOOD" when making your selection.  Beyond the Graphics below, we'll also give you some EYE-OPENING stats on those Grads that "Regret Their Degree Choice" and "Those Who Don't Work in Their Degree Field"

SO BASICALLY, THESE ARE THE PRIMARY SOURCES OF INFORMATION ON THESE TOPICS:

*Feel free to research them to your heart’s content.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, The Federal Reserve, CBS Moneywatch,

Marketplace, Newsweek, USA Today, Bloomberg, Forbes,

U.S. Census Bureau, State Labor Depts, and The Wall Street Journal.

NOW, HERE'S THE PROBLEM.  These charts & graphs are often shown by these organizations or others with no source and often no date (or as “images” on web searches).  Simply put, we post those that show valuable info (MOSTLY TRENDS)---and are, well, for lack of a better term, pretty!  Make sure YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH.

WE KNOW THIS ISN'T THE STRONGEST PART OF OUR GAME!

We are not journalists.  We are not going to research sources if “Marketplace” posts a graph based on data from somewhere else.  Today is the day of AI, social media, podcasts, and YouTube---people cite and “claim” all kinds of stuff. We’re not getting into any of that.  You get what you get---and for the most part that equals TRENDS & FORECASTS.

Bottom Line: Choose Wisely on the Degree

Lots sound cool, look fun, are interesting, make you feel important,
or just “virtue signal” to the rest of us. But remember:

-54% of people with Bachelor’s Degrees CURRENTLY DO NOT WORK IN THE FIELD OF THEIR DEGREE

(NSCG/Census Bureau & Strada Institute)

-35% of Grads REGRET their degree choice----44% actually, if you remove STEM & Healthcare Majors

(USA Today and The Fed)

*Based on the real world…we’d say those "Regret" numbers ARE LOW. Many people are just TOO PROUD to admit they made a “bad call”----just see the 54% who AREN'T EVEN WORKING IN THEIR FIELD.  Case-Closed.

So here we go---these graphs & visuals “come in as they come in”.  We are not going to spend much time on them other than to post them & remove old ones when we can find updates.  Anyway, hopefully you get some value with THE “OVERALL CAREER TRENDS” & the CLEP/DSST Pass Rates.

FEEL FREE TO SEND US any links or graphs and we’ll be happy to pop them in

*NOTE: The BLS Search Tool will be shown 1st, providing info on 832 jobs; however, we recommend taking a peek at the other 7-8 Job/Degree Demand & Income related graphics first----just to get a frame of reference.  It should take you less than 60 seconds per chart.

The Last 6 Slides provide CLEP/DSST College Acceptance Grids (Coastal Carolina and Campbell University), and Exam Pass Rate Stats follow.

The former gives you an idea of what to look for to apply CollegeDawg’s “Speed to Degree” Strategy, while the latter are helpful for Exam Selection.

*Keep in mind, if you pass 6 CLEPs or DSSTs averaging 55-85% pass rates:

Quick Reminder:  We are looking for TRENDS.  Degree Names ranked consistently across sources---typically based on Recent/Future Demand, Income Nationwide in recent years, and/or %'s of grads actually working in their field of study.  To check out "current" levels on Demand & Income just use the Bureau of Labor Statistics Tool we gave you above.  Keep in mind, some of these charts may be a couple years old & YES, income levels changed a lot in recent years, but that's proportional in most cases.  Again, we don't think ANY are extraordinarily accurate ON THEIR OWN looking across the Nation.  For instance, on the next graphic:

***Teachers in Greenville, SC can earn quite a bit more than it shows on the right (not sure on Demand, Different Grade Levels, or Nationwide Figures though).

***Paralegal - Melissa (yeah CollegeDawg Missy) worked in this role in the late 2000's and earned 50k+ (but Demand & Stability can be problems with that one).

JUST NOTE:  Using the charts below as examples, most of the OTHER lower-ranked Majors on the right seem to show up on nearly all graphics.  So, no complaining...

Lastly, remember---we've yet to find any individual charts that include Most Majors (nor even all General categories).

SO, AGAIN---TRENDS ---so you can research further before commiting.
